about

This was recorded over two performances at The Rollright Fayre in the summer of 2015. We hope that the magic felt on the evenings of these recordings is in some way conveyed.

Created using two performances (the duo tracks on the friday, the full band tracks on the sunday), these were two of our most enjoyable gigs of the summer. With the sounds being beautifully projected and recorded by Alastair Caplin, combined with a beautifully attentive audience all cuddled into an incredibly cozy yurt, each evening was one of true joy.

Thank you to everyone who was involved, and a special thanks to Dila Vardar for bringing us to such a delightful event, and to Jessica Langton for organising the evenings and being a great friend, Ali for recording, the band for playing, all the other musicians who played that evening and the rest of the festival, the crew from The Rollright Fayre and the Lizard Stage, and everyone else who helped along the way.

Kind of Choral Twisted Folk

"Silky vocals jangle towards rousing harmonies between beautiful violin solos and finely mastered acoustic guitar from twisted neo-folk band Snufkin. Expect exhilarating toe-tapping rhythm and lifting intricate melodies with some tracks playing a cursory nod to their very own brand of filthy swing." - The Prince Albert, Stroud

Track Name: Weary Soul
I was born a weary soul
Already tired of this world
How did I end up here
How did I

X3

I was lost

I was born a weary man
I have no map at hand
How did I end up here
How did I

I was torn away
Memories
How did I end up here
How did I

I was born a weary soul
Already tired of this world
How did I end up here
How did I

As I walk into the dark
I feel a sudden spark
How did
Track Name: Once I had a Sweetheart
Oh once I had a sweetheart and now I have none
Oh once I had a sweetheart and now I have none
He's gone and leave me he's gone and leave me
He's gone and leave me to sorrow and woe

Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see
Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see
My own precious jewel sat smiling by me
My own precious jewel sat smiling by me

And when I awakened and found it not so
And when I awakened and found it not so
My eyes like some fountain with tears overflowed
My eyes like some fountain with tears overflowed

I'll venture through england through france and through spain
I'll venture through england through france and through spain
All my life I will venture this water maine
All my life I will venture this water maine

Oh once I had a sweetheart and now I have none
Oh once I had a sweetheart and now I have none
He's gone and leave me he's gone and leave me
He's gone and leave me to sorrow and woe
He's gone and leave me to sorrow and woe
Track Name: Eternal Bliss
How do I grow
Tell me for I must know
Can we get through this
When wrapped in a cloak of mist

You wrote me a list
For eternal bliss
But it didn't exist
So we don't need this

How do I change
Have I really reached this age
Is this who I am
Help me change my plan

You wrote me a list
For eternal bliss
But it didn't exist
So we don't need this

Where is this utopia
My mind is tired, is it really so far
Will we even get near
Or is this the end my dear

You wrote me a list
For eternal bliss
But it didn't exist
So we don't need this

You wrote me a list
For eternal bliss
But it didn't exist
So we don't need this

Could it please exist
Cus I really need this

Cus I really need this
Track Name: Let the Wind Decide
Here we stand at the edge
Of the great abyss
And we glance at the paths
Most if not all of which we’ll miss
A field with horse and cart
An ocean with great ships
And as we lean towards one or the other
All the others cease to exist

Cease to exist X3

I’ve been feeling lately that I should be on a boat
Something appeals to me about being afloat
Sailing the seven seas, every wave reminding me
Of how I could be free.

I could be free X4

I’ve been feeling lately that I don’t know where I am
I’ve been wandering alone I’m so lost in this land
I’ve never been one for making plans
But now I just don’t know where the hell I am

I’ve been feeling lately that I’ll go from place to place
Let the wind choose my course, let it choose my pace
Let it choose when I live, let it choose when I die
Let it choose when I laugh, let it choose when I cry

When I cry X3

We all sometimes think, we need to decide
But we’re rolling a dice, with infinite sides
A path untrodden a stream uncrossed an ocean so wide
So let the wind take your wings, let the wind decide

Let the wind decide X3
Track Name: Dust
Just another day in the paradise circus
They say they only want to heal not hurt us
But we are dust
We are dust

Screen light reflects upon your bones
Everybody sees but no one knows
The light shines on the sockets of your eyes
We just sit and watch and wonder who next dies

We begin to rust
Return to dust
Just another day in the paradise circus [x4]

Loneliness is a sin we can't condone
So we forget how to be alone
Someone whispered someone said
We just sit and watch and wonder who will next be dead

I could take off my mask
You would only have to ask
But I know you'd turn the other way
Just another life, just another day

We begin to rust
Return to dust
Just another day in the paradise circus
Track Name: Willie o' Winsbury
The king he has been a poor prisoner
And a prisoner long in Spain
And Willie of Winsbury
Has lain long with his daughter at home

"What ails you, what ails you, my daughter dear
Why you look so pale and wan
Have you had any sore sickness
Or yet been sleeping with a man?"

"I have not had any sore sickness
Nor yet been sleeping with a man
It is for you, my father dear,
For biding so long in Spain"

"Cast off, cast off your berry-brown gown
Stand naked upon the stone
That I may know you by your shape
Whether you be a maiden or none"

So she cast off her berry-brown gown
Stood naked on the stone
Her haunches were round and her apron was short
Her skin was pale and wan

"Is he a lord or a duke or a knight
Or a man of birth and fame
Or is he one of my serving men
That's lately come out of Spain?"

"No he's not a lord or a duke or a knight
Nor a man of birth and fame
But he is Willie o' Winsbury
Alone I could no longer have lain

So the king has called on his merry men all
His merry men thirty and three
Saying "bring me Willie of Winsbury
For hanged he shall be"

But when he came the king before
He was clad all in red silk
His hair was like the strands of gold
His skin was as white as milk

"It is no wonder," said the king
"That my daughter's heart you did win
For if I was a woman, as I am a man
My bedfellow you would have been"

"So will you marry my daughter Jane
By the truth of your right hand?
Will you marry my daughter Jane
And I'll make you lord of the land"

"Yes, I will marry your daughter Jane
By the truth of my right hand
Oh yes I'll marry your daughter Jane
But I'll not be the lord of the land"

And He's mounted her on a milk-white steed
And Himself on a dapple grey
And He has made her a lady of as much land
As she will ride in a long summer's day
